Essix retainer question?

+1 vote
Essix retainer question. After five grueling years of orthodontic treatment, I finally got my braces off! They pulled four teeth to correct a really severe over bite. They gave me a permanent retainer for my lower teeth and an essix for my top. Thy said to wear the essix 24/7 for two weeks. That seems like a really short time to me. I'm really paranoid about my teeth shifting back. Like really REALLY paranoid. I don't want five years and thousands of dollars to go down the drain. So what do u guys think? Is two weeks with it 24/7 enough?

Being that you had braces on for 5 years I assume that your teeth have already often used to their new positions so your orthodontist may be right. But periodically if you put your retainer in, you can check to see if it fits tighter. If it is tighter you can wear the retainer for a bit as it won't hurt. Buy once again, have faith in your ortho, they do know what they are doing :)
