Ways to keep myself awake?
I didn't sleep last night and I need to stay awake for at least five or six more hours because I have to pick my friend up from across town and there's no way I'll be able to go to sleep and wake up in time to get ready to go, even if I set my alarms. I don't drink coffee and energy drinks make me sick; is there anything I can do to keep myself awake for this long?

Turn the TV on and lay down on the floor. No pillows, no blanket and hopefully no carpet. And now close your eyes and get some rest. You will not be able to fall fully asleep because of the sound, light and uncomfortable situation but you might get some rest and be better prepared to pick up your friend.

Don't do this on the couch or chair.

Just focus in on something. Keep your mind active. It's never easy, but just never let your eyes close.

Way way is turn on the tv and find something interesting to watch or even boring sometimes when something is boring but you can not help but watch it. Or even if you can watch other episode of your fave shows (online or if they are not online might be on tv)
Or even try playing online games if you are a member of a chat site or anything that has games one it.
Or even card (if you have a deck of cards) or more challenging games and board games.
Anything will work if it keeps your mind active
